Solid Wall Insulation
If your house was built before 1920 then it’s likely to be a ‘solid wall’ property, which basically means you have a single layer of brick rather than the more modern Cavity Wall (2 layers of brick with a gap in the middle).
Wall insulation is one of the best improvements you can make to your home for both the energy and money saving benefits, but also the comfort – you will be much warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer – remember insulation benefits both!
For Solid Wall properties you have 2 options for insulation – apply it to the outside or the inside of your home:
External Wall Insulation (EWI) is a solution to insulate solid wall properties (no cavity) applied to the outside of the property.
Internal Wall Insulation (IWI) is a solution to insulate solid wall properties which is applied to the inside of the house.
These 2 systems are very different from each other with regards to the materials, systems and installations used, and also the finished ‘look’ of the work.
When choosing between the 2 there are a number of different things to consider which our advisors will be happy to discuss with you.
